About

Mission to Mormons is a not-for-profit ministry founded in Upland, California in 1991. Today our office is located in the historic community of Nauvoo, Illinois. While there are numerous sects that claim to embody the faith first established by Joseph Smith in 1830, our primary focus as a mission is with the largest of these groups: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints based in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Mission to Mormons merged with the Nauvoo Christian Visitors Center in 2009. The Christian Visitors Center (NCVC) was established in the late 1980's as a witness for Christ among the tens of thousands of LDS pilgrims who visit Western Illinois each year.

What we do

Our mission is two-fold: First, we work to educate the public and to equip the Christian community to share

Biblical truths with Latter-day Saint friends and family members. We offer training seminars for churches, schools, and study groups and we publish a bi-monthly newsletter. Secondly, we are committed to directly sharing the Gospel of Christ with Mormon people throughout the world. Mission to Mormons has organized or participated in evangelism outreaches at over 20 temple openings on three continents. We also share the Gospel through our visitor's center, our new YouTube channel and this website.

Our Executive Director

Steve Dealy, our Executive Director, was raised in a Christian home in Eugene, Oregon. Throughout his youth he had Latter-day Saint friends---as well as a great desire to understand their beliefs. By the time he graduated from high school, Steve had a firm understanding of the differences between Mormonism and Biblical Christianity and sensed that God was calling him to be a missionary to the Mormon people. There was nothing more fulfilling for Steve than to talk with LDS people about the things of the Lord. In the fall of 1991 he founded Mission to Mormons, which has had offices in Upland, CA; Colorado Springs, CO; and Eugene, OR. In the year 2000 Steve heeded God's call to relocate to the Nauvoo, Illinois area where he continues to bring the Gospel message to Mormons. It is Steve's unwavering hope and prayer that every Latter-day Saint will experience what the Apostle Paul spoke of in Romans 3:20-22: "Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin. But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe..."

Our Statement of Faith

SCRIPTURE. We believe the Bible is inspired of God; it is our guide for doctrinal correction and instruction

(2 Timothy 3:16-17).

THE TRIUNE GOD. We believe that the Father, Son and Holy Ghost make up the eternal Godhead. One God represented in three "Persons" (2 Corinthians 13:14).

FALL OF MAN. We believe that man was created in the image of God, but by disobedience he fell from perfection (Romans 5:12).

RESURRECTION. We believe in the literal, bodily resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ (Mark 16:6).

ATONEMENT. We believe that Christ's sacrificial death on the Cross is fully sufficient to atone for the sins of lost humanity (John 3:16).

SALVATION BY GRACE. We believe that salvation is a gift from God that cannot be earned through human effort. Our good works are a result of a life changed by God, and not the means of obtaining His forgiveness and acceptance (Ephesians 2:8).

SACRAMENTS. We believe that sacraments such as water baptism and the Lord's Supper are outward symbols of spiritual realities (Matthew 28:19).

THE RETURN OF CHRIST. We believe that the second coming of Jesus Christ is imminent (I Thessalonians 4:16-17).

HEAVEN AND HELL. We believe that Heaven is the eternal home of all born-again believers (John 14:1-3). Hell is the place of eternal separation from God for those that do not place their entire trust in Christ as Savior (Revelation 20:10; 15).
